Then i tried the input helper to automaticaly set it up and i had two things in the list. Tastatur + XInput Gamepad 1. Controller (XBOX 360 for Windows) Need to get sure that the setting below is set to "Gamepad, Joystick" and not to "Steering Wheel. Then it should work, at least for me it did. Thats what I had to do.

If they just appear as on/off buttons it means one of 2 things. The pedals are not analogue and will be either on or off with no range in between those values. The drivers are not working. Properties > controller > disable Steam input. Then try the controller again. Thanks but it doesn't seem to recognize the controller at all in-game. Hmm. You can turn that (mouse control) off in Options --> Controls and all the way at the bottom, in the Alternate Mouse Cursor Controller section, hit the RESET button
